Material and structure: Bamboo flooring is an eco-friendly type of floor covering made of the bamboo plant. Finishing texture: the surface texture is usually similar to the smooth hardwood floor. Durability: If properly processed and manufactured, bamboo flooring can be as durable as hardwood and it is actually more resistant to humidity. However, the too dry or too humid environment had a noticeable impact on the dimensions of the planks and will result in cracks. *ATTENTION*: please be mindful that usually as the color gets darker, the planks get softer and less durable. Installation: based on the structure, bamboo planks can be glued or nailed down. You can also snap the planks’ click locks to tongue-and-groove systems together. It can be both floated or glued on a concrete base or be nailed or stapled down on a plywood sub-floor. Weaknesses and limitation: First, the adhesive used in the composition of the bamboo floor release VOC (Volatile organic chemicals) in the air that can be toxic. Second, only the thick kind of bamboo floor can be sanded and refurbished for only a couple of times. Cost: It usually costs between 1.5$ to 6$ per square feet.
